Committee forwards retroactive Parks Alliance grant of about $84,000 to full Board

The Budget & Finance Committee voted Sept. 21 to forward to the full Board a resolution retroactively authorizing the Recreation and Park Department to accept expanded grants from the San Francisco Parks Alliance valued at approximately $84,000 for fiscal year 2014–15.
Nathan Tinclare, partnerships division, said the Parks Alliance and its predecessors have supported the Recreation and Park Department for more than 40 years as a fiscal agent and donor manager. He told the committee the in-kind and small grant accounts supported seasonal events such as Scaregrove and the annual holiday tree lighting, volunteer and natural-area programs, adaptive recreation and development of the department’s strategic plan and asked the committee to support retroactive approval of those grants.
After no public comment, Supervisor Katie Tang moved to send the resolution to the full Board with a positive recommendation; Supervisor Norman Yee seconded the motion and the committee approved it “without objection.”
The resolution retroactively recognizes in-kind grants and small-dollar donations made to the department in FY 2014–15 and, if approved by the full Board, will formalize the department’s acceptance of the listed grants.
