Committee backs resolution urging USF to protect workers hit by furloughs and layoffs

Speakers during public comment included union representatives who said some staff lost jobs or had benefits removed and USF management representatives who outlined a significant campus revenue shortfall (USF said housing and food service revenue shortfalls alone approximate $35 million). Several campus employees testified in support of the resolution and described operational exposure and changes to furlough status that removed benefits.
The committee adopted two clerical edits and moved the resolution to the full Board as a committee report (3–0).
