Committee recommends ordinances authorizing settlements from closed session; moves to withhold deliberations

The Government Audit and Oversight Committee convened in closed session June 4 to consider ordinances authorizing settlements of lawsuits and offers to compromise litigation under California Code of Civil Procedure section 998. The clerk reported on return to open session that the committee acted unanimously to recommend ordinances for agenda items 2, 3, 4, 6 and 7 to the Board of Supervisors; for item 5 Chair Marr was excused from voting and the remaining members recommended that ordinance as well for Board consideration.
After the clerk's report, Vice Chair Aaron Peskin moved that the committee not disclose closed session deliberations. The committee recorded roll‑call votes (Peskin: aye; Haney: aye; Marr: aye) and the motion to withhold deliberations passed unanimously.
The clerk earlier had called items 2–7 as ordinances authorizing settlements pursuant to California Code of Civil Procedure section 998 and invited public comment on those items; operations and the clerk reported there were no callers for the closed‑session items.
The committee's closed‑session recommendations will be transmitted to the Board of Supervisors for consideration at its next regular calendar placement.
