Committee approves amendment adding city parcels to Castro CBD and authorizes ballots

The Government Audit and Oversight Committee on June 18 approved an amendment to the Castro Community Benefit District (CBD) renewal that adds two city-owned parcels and then forwarded both the Castro and Fisherman's Wharf CBD resolutions to the Board of Supervisors.
Chris Korgas of the Office of Economic and Workforce Development told the committee that ballots were mailed to property owners and that OEWD had, in the prior 36 hours, received confirmation of two additional city-owned parcels for the Castro CBD: parcel 35010006 assessed at $1,008.08 and parcel 35010007 assessed at $1,039.55. He said those additions raise the total city-owned parcel assessment in the Castro CBD to $74,211.99, representing 9.051% of that CBD's budget. For Fisherman's Wharf, he said the city's parcel would be assessed at $5,868.67, or 0.48% of the district's total assessment budget.
Chair Gordon Marr moved to accept the verbal amendment to agenda item 5 to add the two parcels; the roll call recorded Vice Chair Aaron Peskin, Supervisor Matt Haney and Chair Marr voting aye. Marr then moved to forward item 5 as amended and item 6 to the Board of Supervisors as committee reports for the June 23 meeting; that motion also passed 3–0.
If the Board approves, the mayor or her designee will be authorized to cast the city's assessment ballots in the affirmative for the proposed renewals and expansions. OEWD staff said they are available to answer follow-up questions from the Board.
