San Francisco supervisors' audit committee forwards five settlement items to full Board

The San Francisco County Board of Supervisors' Government Audit and Oversight Committee met remotely on March 30, 2020, and voted to forward several ordinances and resolutions authorizing settlements of lawsuits and unlitigated claims to the full Board.

Chair identified the committee and named members in attendance. Clerk John Carroll explained remote-participation rules and COVID-19 precautions, including the public-comment phone line ((888) 204-5984) and access code (3501008). "Each speaker will be allowed 2 minutes to speak," Carroll said, and he noted written comments could be emailed to the committee clerk and would be included in the official file. The clerk also said items acted on at this meeting were expected to appear on the Board agenda of April 7, 2020.

After a brief check for public commenters—operations reported none—the committee moved to act. Supervisor Aaron Peskin said he had reviewed the city attorney's materials and was "ready to make a motion to move these items to the full Board of Supervisors." The chair moved to send items 1–4 to the full Board with a positive recommendation; the clerk called the roll and recorded three ayes (Peskin, Haney, Marr), and the motion passed. The chair then moved that item 5 be sent as a committee report to the Board's March 31 meeting; the roll call again recorded three ayes and the committee approved the transmission.

The meeting closed after the votes. No public testimony was received during the allotted public-comment periods. The committee's actions will be reflected on the full Board of Supervisors' upcoming agendas.
