Committee forwards two settlement ordinances after closed session; public raises concerns about Academy of Art University item

Agenda items 4 and 5 were two ordinances authorizing settlements of lawsuits against the City and County of San Francisco. The committee invited public comment on the closed‑session items; members of the public urged greater transparency regarding an Academy of Art University settlement and upcoming Land Use Commission hearings.
The committee convened in closed session. On return to open session, staff reported the committee unanimously recommended agenda item 4 be forwarded to the Board meeting on Jan. 7, 2020 without recommendation and that agenda item 5 be sent as a committee report to the Board's Dec. 10 meeting.
Next steps: Item 4 will be considered by the full Board on Jan. 7; item 5 will be handled via committee report on Dec. 10. Members of the public requested the Board and staff disclose additional settlement materials at the Land Use Committee and Board hearings.
