Committee accepts analyst amendments to DPH methadone contract amendment, trims increase by about $1 million

On Jan. 27 the Budget and Finance Committee considered a retroactive amendment to a Department of Public Health contract for behavioral health methadone services with Addiction Research and Treatment. DPH representative Michelle Ruggles said the amendment exercises options in the existing RFP to continue an ongoing methadone program through June 30, 2018 and that the proposed funding level reflects annual needs for the extension period.
The budget analyst reported that the resolution as filed would increase the contract from a previously authorized amount to a larger figure than DPH's remaining budget projection. The analyst recommended making the resolution retroactive to July 1, 2015 and reducing the requested not-to-exceed amount by about $1,000,003 to approximately $51,000,003 to align the authorization with the department's projected remaining obligations.
The committee accepted the budget analyst's amendments and advanced the measure without objection.
Next steps: the amended resolution will be forwarded with the analyst's suggested changes for further consideration by the full Board of Supervisors.
