The Trust for Public Land and the Helen Diller family are providing more than $10 million in private support for design and reconstruction; the department estimated a 6–8 month construction timeline beginning next summer; committee members raised safety and sightline questions and supported moving the item forward.
Navigation Partnership Fund: HOPE and related presenters described a proposal to create a Navigation Partnership Fund to accept private donations in support of the Navigation Center and navigation services. The Budget and Legislative Analyst (BLA) recommended the ordinance be amended to require annual reporting to the Board of Supervisors on donations and expenditures and to consider making the fund a category 4 fund if the board wants appropriation authority. The committee adopted the BLA recommendation and moved the item forward as amended.
