The San Francisco Board of Supervisors’ Budget and Finance Committee on Sept. 23 moved without objection to forward a resolution authorizing the Police Department to accept and expand a donation of approximately $55,000 from the estate of Newing Wo to support community policing.
Deputy Chief Mikhail Ali, deputy chief of administration for the San Francisco Police Department, told the committee the funds have been earmarked for continuing community policing efforts and thanked the estate for the contribution. After brief public comment, Supervisor Tang moved the committee’s positive recommendation; the motion was taken without objection and the item will appear on the Sept. 29 Board agenda.
The resolution authorizes the department to accept the donation; the committee record does not specify additional restrictions or an implementation timeline beyond the stated purpose of supporting community policing.
