Committee recommends accepting $926,476 in state pedestrian and bicycle funds

The Government Audit and Oversight Committee on June 11 recommended that the Board approve acceptance and expenditure of $926,476 in Transportation Development Act (TDA) Article 3 funds for fiscal year 2018'19.
Rachel Alonzo, transportation finance analyst with the Department of Public Works, explained the appropriation from the Metropolitan Transportation Commission funds bicycle facilities, pedestrian street improvements and related projects. The countywide application would allocate $463,238 to the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency for spot or corridor bicycle and pedestrian improvements and $463,238 to Public Works for sidewalk, curb and gutter repairs and for planning and design of curb ramps. Alonzo said curb improvements designed under this grant will be constructed in FY 2018'19 using Prop K local sales tax funds, and that MTC does not require a local match.
There were no committee questions and no public comment. An unidentified committee member moved to send the item to the full Board with a positive recommendation, and Chair Kim said the motion carried without objection. The item will appear on the Board of Supervisors agenda on June 19, 2018.
