Committee forwards Top of Broadway CBD report and Treasure Island playground gift to full Board

The committee advanced a resolution receiving and approving the Top of Broadway Community Benefit District FY2015–16 annual report. Chris Korgas of the Office of Economic and Workforce Development told the committee the district—formed in 2013—operates as a property‑based CBD, has a roughly $299,000 operating budget and delivers services focused on sidewalk operations, beautification and safety. Dominic Lemandri, district director, said the CBD provides daily sidewalk sweeping (recently upgraded to seven days per week), pressure washing and security patrols, and reported results including roughly 266 service days, an estimated 6,600 pounds of trash removed and more than 1,000 graffiti removals during the fiscal year.
The committee also forwarded a resolution authorizing the Treasure Island Development Authority to enter a gift agreement with Playworld Systems Inc. for playground equipment valued at $110,000 to be installed at Ninth and Avenue of the Palms. Bob Beck, director of TIDA, told the committee Playworld would provide and install the equipment at its cost and assist with permitting; DBI and other city permit processes will apply.
Both items were sent to the Board of Supervisors agenda for Sept. 5, 2017, with positive recommendations and no recorded opposition from the committee.
