The committee heard an ordinance to amend the Park Code as it applies to Yerba Buena Gardens, presented by Enrico Penick, Director of Real Estate. Penick said the city acquired Yerba Buena Gardens in 2018 and that the Real Estate Division now oversees the site.
Penick summarized the proposed changes: allow dogs on leash in Yerba Buena Gardens, permit roller skating, rollerblading and kite flying, and clarify that bicycles and electric scooters remain prohibited. He said the ordinance also contains non-substantive corrections to reflect the Real Estate Division's authority over the property.
No members of the public spoke on Item 3. The chair moved that the committee send the ordinance to the full Board with a positive recommendation. Vice Chair Preston, Member Peskin and Chair Melgar each voted "Aye" and the motion passed unanimously. The item will go to the Board of Supervisors for final action.
