Committee approves two Rec & Park grants to renovate Hertz Playground

Nathan Tinclair of the Recreation and Park Department described two grants: approximately $117,000 from A Ruiz Construction Company and associates to replace a dirt pathway with an ADA-compliant asphalt path linking Kaufman Pool and the basketball courts, and roughly $248,000 from OC Jones and Sons (partnering with TLC for Kids Sports) to renovate the Hertz Playground youth baseball diamond. Tinclair described repairs including grading and resodding the field, backstop repairs, fencing improvements and new amenities such as a scoreboard and bat racks. He said volunteers and community partners helped complete the work and that the projects were celebrated at a ribbon-cutting on May 31.
A representative of Supervisor Cohen's office introduced the items and the committee adopted minor technical amendments presented by Supervisor Collins' office. With no public comment, the committee approved the resolutions and moved them forward to the full Board without objection.
The committee record and presenters credited TLC for Kids Sports, OC Jones and Sons, A Ruiz Construction Company and the Department of Public Works with roles in designing and completing the improvements.
