Committee recommends accepting public infrastructure tied to 1629 Market Street development
Summary
The Land Use Committee voted 3-0 to recommend the Board accept irrevocable offers of public infrastructure for the 1629 Market Street mixed-use development, which includes 499 residential units and roughly 2,300 sq ft of public open space.
The Land Use Committee on July 1 recommended that the Board of Supervisors accept offers of public infrastructure and dedicate right-of-way associated with the 1629 Market Street mixed-use development (the Plumbers Union project).
Kahal Hinsi of the Department of Public Works described the project footprint and completed public improvements: the development constructed 499 residential units, including 96 units identified as 100% affordable (named after Jassy Collins), reconstructed streets and sidewalks, installed curb ramps, upgraded sewers and water infrastructure, added street trees and bike parking, and provided nearly 2,300 square feet of open public space. DPW requested that the city assume maintenance and liability for the reconstructed infrastructure and establish official street widths and grades.
There were no public comments on the item. Chair Mirna Melgar moved to recommend the Board accept the infrastructure; the committee unanimously approved the motion (3-0). The recommendation will be forwarded to the Board for final acceptance.
