Committee actions: settlements forwarded; charity reporting and retirement items continued
Summary
The Government Audit & Oversight Committee forwarded three litigation settlement items to the full Board, accepted technical amendments and continuances for ethics and campaign reporting measures, and continued the work group hearing and retirement compensation review to the call of the chair.
The committee took several procedural actions on its agenda. Early in the meeting it agreed to take litigation items 5–7 out of order; the clerk read summaries of three settlement items (claims filed by Amy Scott; Sam O’Brien; and Ronald and Patricia Martel). Supervisor Norman Yee moved to send items 5–7 to the full Board with the recommendation that item 7 be a committee report; the motion was made and carried without objection and the items were scheduled to be heard by the full Board on December 6.
On item 1 (Form 700 updates) the committee adopted clerical technical amendments and forwarded the ordinance to the full Board with a committee report for hearing on December 6. Item 2 (campaign and governmental conduct code change regarding solicitation reporting) received public comment and a sponsor motion to amend and continue; the committee agreed to continue item 2 per the city attorney’s direction. Item 3 (resolution urging SFERS to review executive compensation) received no public comment and was continued to the call of the chair.
The larger hearing on the jail replacement work group (Item 4) produced no final Board action; the committee continued that item to the call of the chair for further analysis.
