The contract is a new agreement with a five‑year term and an option to extend for an additional five years; because the contract exceeds $10,000,000, Board approval is required.
Supervisors asked whether Walgreens could be asked to add more local drug take‑back locations and to expand convenience for patients; DPH said it would use the partnership to pursue such program ideas. The committee closed public comment and forwarded the contract to the full Board with a recommendation.
