Committee approves PUC Department of the Environment request to apply for Strategic Growth Council biodiversity grant

The Budget & Finance Committee on Feb. 26 approved a Department of the Environment request to apply for a California Strategic Growth Council grant to develop a Biodiversity Action Plan.
Guillermo Rodriguez of the Department of the Environment asked the committee to authorize an application (the clerk's oral description noted $2,250,000 while the presenter referenced $250,000 in the oral remarks), and said that if awarded the department would partner with Planning to produce a biodiversity and ecology master plan to guide greening efforts across San Francisco. The committee opened public comment (none appeared) and forwarded the application authorization with committee support.
The department will proceed with the application and, if the grant is awarded, will return with appropriate implementation plans and partnerships for Board consideration.
