The committee approved several routine but consequential administrative items during the Dec. 11 meeting.
Airport staff presented two competitive 5-year contracts for elevator and escalator maintenance (not-to-exceed $11 million and $17 million) and a new seven-year lease with Airport Travel Agency for passenger amenities (minimum annual guarantee $180,000). Budget analysts recommended approval of the items and the committee took them forward.
On prevailing wages, the Civil Service Commission and Office of Labor Standards and Enforcement provided data for the Board’s annual adoption of wage rates applying to private employers performing work under city contracts; the committee treated the resolution as a policy decision and moved it forward.
The Fire Department presented a retroactive FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grant award of $1,771,421 to replace ambulance defibrillators and expand training; the department reported a required local match of $442,855 already budgeted. The committee approved acceptance and expenditure of the grant.
