On Oct. 10 the Public Safety and Neighborhood Services Committee voted 3‑0 to forward to the Board of Supervisors a resolution recommending issuance of a type 42 on‑sale beer and wine liquor license to Lamont Juiced LLC, doing business as The Noshbox, located at 1116 Folsom Street.
Officer Freonas presented the PCN report for the applicant and said there were "0 letters of protest, 0 letters of support." He told the committee the location is in Plot 232A and Census Tract 178.04, both cited in the PCN as higher‑risk designations; the ALU recommended approval with one condition that the petitioner actively monitor the area under their control to prevent loitering.
Steven Wade, who identified himself as a co‑owner of The Noshbox and a nearby resident, told the committee the business has "a vested interest in both maintaining the safety and security of the neighborhood," described working with nearby clubs and neighborhood organizations, and cited coordination with the Leather Cultural District and the SoMa West community business district.
Supervisor Dorsey reiterated support and noted ongoing discussions about safety ambassadors related to an upcoming transitional‑age youth permanent supportive housing project on the block, and encouraged the applicant to participate in neighborhood safety planning. With no public comment, Chair Stephanie moved to forward the resolution; the clerk recorded votes of "Vice Sharon Gardio, aye; Member Dorsey, aye; Chair Stephanie, aye," and the measure was sent to the Board with a positive recommendation.
The committee’s action is procedural; the Board of Supervisors is expected to consider the item on its Oct. 22, 2024 agenda.
