Committee approves administration agreement for Top of Broadway Community Benefit District

The Government Audit and Oversight Committee voted to recommend a resolution that authorizes the City to deposit collected assessment funds to the Top of Broadway Community Benefit District (CBD). Chris Zietano, Senior Project Manager at the Office of Economic and Workforce Development, told the committee the deposit will allow the CBD to bolster services already being provided, and estimated approximately $105,000 will be deposited during the fiscal year.
Benjamin Horn, Executive Director of the Top of Broadway CBD, and Stephanie Greenberg, the district's board president, said the CBD has been operating since incorporation, has established advisory committees and contracted cleaning and security services, and needs assessment revenue to continue services without interruption. Horn said the CBD had already delivered cleaning and safety services and planned marketing and streetscape improvements.
Supervisor Chiu moved approval and the measure passed in committee "without objection." The committee forwarded the resolution to the full Board of Supervisors with a recommendation for approval.
Next steps: OEWD said funds would be deposited in early March and that the CBD would continue to report on services and use of assessment monies to the Board.
