On May 22 the Budget and Finance Subcommittee authorized the Department of Public Works to retroactively accept and expend a Federal Highway Administration bridge program grant of $3,415,487 for the Isthmus Creek Bridge Rehabilitation Project.
Ray Louie, street structure inspection and repair program manager, described repairs and upgrades that will improve reliability and address access and safety issues for the Third Street bridge that serves Bayview Hunters Point. He said the current grant covers the preliminary engineering phase and that additional federal funds are expected for construction.
Louie estimated construction would be completed in the third quarter of fiscal year 2013–14. There was no public comment and the committee approved the resolution without objection.
