The San Francisco Board of Supervisors Budget and Finance Subcommittee on May 22 approved an amendment to Airport Contract No. 8994 that extends the curbside management agreement with 5 Star Parking Management for an additional option year and increases the new year—s not-to-exceed amount to approximately $14,636,814.
Kathy Whitener of the San Francisco Airport said the amendment covers management and monitoring of shared-ride van zones, limousine and taxi operations, the smart-card revenue system and taxi cashier operations. She told the committee the extension is funded from collected ground-transportation trip fees charged to companies that use airport curbs and roadways.
The budget analyst recommended a reduction to the proposed extension-year cost of about $430,186, achieved through lowered fringe benefits and remaining funds from the original contract. Chair Mark Farrell proposed two technical amendments — adding a whereas clause referring to the November 2010 board approval and adopting the budget analyst—s recommended reduction — which the committee approved and then moved the amended resolution forward without opposition.
There was no public comment. The amendment will proceed to the full Board of Supervisors for final action.
