Ordinance to extend rapid rehousing assistance continued two weeks after city attorney delays

The Rules Committee on Tuesday continued an ordinance that would amend the Administrative Code to declare City policy allowing up to five years of rapid rehousing assistance for eligible households when a shorter subsidy risks a return to homelessness, and to require an annual hearing and report by the Homelessness Oversight Commission on implementation.
An unidentified committee speaker told members the City Attorney had not approved some required amendments in time for the meeting and asked that the item be continued for two weeks. "Unfortunately, we have some amendments for this legislation that the city attorney wasn't able to Approve in time for this meeting. So I ask you to continue the item for 2 weeks," the speaker said.
Supervisor Ronan made the motion to continue the matter to the November 18 meeting of the Rules Committee. The clerk called the roll and recorded aye votes from Vice Chair Safae, Supervisor Ronan and Chair Walton; the motion carried without objection. No members of the public registered to speak on the motion.
Next steps: the ordinance will return to committee on the stated continued date for further consideration once City Attorney-approved amendments are available.
