Rules Committee forwards four IHSS Public Authority reappointments to full Board

At an October Rules Committee meeting, Chair Supervisor Shamone Walton moved to send four nominations to the full Board with a positive recommendation: Jesse Nichols for seat 5, Sasha Brittner for seat 11, Robin Lisonbee for seat 13 and Daisy McArthur for seat 12. The committee voted unanimously to advance the reappointments.
Sasha Brittner, speaking with her father Bruce Joseph reading and interpreting, described decades of lived experience as an IHSS consumer and long-standing disability-rights advocacy. "In-home support services have enabled me to live a full and productive life," Brittner said, noting her roles with the Hand in Hand domestic employers network and the National Council on Disability.
Daisy McArthur, an IHSS provider who said she has cared for clients for decades, told the committee the public authority "do[es] tremendous work here for the city and the county and the state of California" and urged reappointment so she can continue serving seniors and people with disabilities across neighborhoods including the Tenderloin and Bayview.
Chair Walton thanked applicants and current IHSS providers for their service and noted the committee received applications from two people who were not present. Vice Chair Safaie and Member Aaron Peskin both voiced support before the unanimous committee vote to forward the names to the Board.
No members of the public signed up to speak on the item. The nominations will now be considered at the full Board meeting on the calendar as scheduled.
