Rules Committee clears multiple nominations and reappointments; MTA nominee continued for community outreach

Pamela Troy was recommended as a committee report for appointment to the Ballot Simplification Committee after she described a background in journalism and election volunteer work. The committee recommended reappointment of Jose Lopez to the Board of Appeals following public praise for his impartiality and service. Kevin Williams, a tenant‑side attorney and incumbent on the Building Inspection Commission, was recommended for reappointment after he discussed budgeting transparency and access to inspection services.
The committee also forwarded Sean McGarry's nomination to the Planning Commission with multiple labor groups testifying in support of the mayor's nominee and emphasizing local hire and apprenticeship pathways. Amy Campbell's written statement was read into the record and the committee moved the nomination forward despite her absence on a preplanned family trip.
On the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency nomination, committee members pressed Mike Chen on community outreach failures for projects such as Valencia Street and the need to build trust with Chinatown transit advocates. The committee voted to continue Chen's nomination to the call of the chair so he can consult with Chinatown Trip and other groups and return with additional engagement.
