Claudia Quinones, an early childhood education professional and chief strategy and impact officer at Children's Council of San Francisco, was recommended by the Board of Supervisors Rules Committee on a motion that passed without objection. The committee approved a residency waiver for the District 4 appointment; the term is noted to end 03/19/2027.
Quinones introduced herself to the committee as "an immigrant, Latina, proud Latina professional, and a mother of 2," and described more than 16 years working directly with families and in early childhood education programs. She said she launched a department focused on research, data and evaluation and would "elevate data" in CPAC decisionmaking.
Supporters at the meeting, including Alan Wong, policy director at Children’s Council, urged the committee to back the appointment, saying Quinones has extensive experience helping families access childcare. After public comment, Supervisor Walton moved to appoint Quinones with a residency waiver; Member Peskin and Chair Walton both voted "aye," and clerk records indicate the motion passed without objection.
The recommendation now goes to the full Board of Supervisors as part of the committee referral process; items acted on by the committee are expected to appear on the Board agenda on October 1 unless otherwise noted.
The committee also recorded public comment opposing the candidate from one unidentified speaker who raised concerns about the forum and other local education issues; committee members moved forward after hearing supporting testimony from community organizations.
