Subcommittee approves three routine budget items including grants for sheriff and Rec & Parks

The San Francisco Board of Supervisors budget and finance subcommittee approved three consent items at its March 13 meeting and sent them to the full Board with recommendation.

Item 1: The subcommittee concurred with the controller's consumer price index determination for 2013 (presented as 2.22) and authorized an equivalent CPI adjustment to the access line tax. Deputy Controller Monique Sumuda/Zmuda presented the CPI figure and the resolution.

Item 2: The subcommittee approved a resolution authorizing the Sheriff's Department to retroactively accept $599,894 in funds from the U.S. Department of Justice for a two‑year 'Keys to Freedom' reentry program serving women and transgender adults in the city's jail system. The legislative aide Connor Johnson presented the item on behalf of Supervisor London Breed; Sheriff’s Department financial staff described the program and that no city match was required.

Item 3: The Recreation and Park Department received authorization to retroactively accept and spend a Trust for Public Land grant of up to $3,350,000 for design and construction at Father Alfred E. Bodecker Park. Abigail Mayer (Rec & Park) said TPL is providing approximately $2.7M in in‑kind services and $646,000 in contingency construction funds; supervisors approved a technical amendment inserting project dates (08/13/2012 through 03/03/2014) and approved the item as amended.

All three items were moved, seconded and approved without recorded opposition during the March 13 meeting.
