Rules Committee advances reappointments for youth and health boards to full Board

The San Francisco Board of Supervisors’ Rules Committee on June 10 advanced a slate of appointments and reappointments, sending the nominations to the full Board with positive recommendations.
Aaron Yen, who sought reappointment to seat 10 on the Department of Children, Youth and Their Families Oversight and Advisory Committee, told the committee he has worked as a youth worker in San Francisco for nearly 20 years and called it “an honor to have served … for the past 2 years.” Chair Supervisor Hillary Ronan and colleagues praised his record, and the committee approved a recommendation to the full Board without objection.
The committee then considered multiple candidates for the San Francisco Health Authority. Applicants who spoke included Jen Zhang, CEO of Chinese Hospital; Roland Pickens, representing San Francisco General Hospital/Department of Public Health; Dr. Joseph Wu, an emergency physician; Dr. Steven Fugaro, longtime SF Health Plan board chair; and Norlisa Cooper, a registered nurse at San Francisco General. Nina Mariam appeared on behalf of two newly elected member-advisory representatives who were unable to attend.
Supervisors thanked applicants for their service and moved the slate forward with a unanimous recommendation to the full Board. The committee recorded no public commenters opposing these nominations during the hearing.
The nominations will next be considered by the full Board at its regularly scheduled meeting.
