The Budget and Finance Committee moved forward two relatively routine items: a Treasurer's Office request to accept and expend up to $80,000 for a full-time outreach coordinator for the Kindergarten to College program, and a first modification to China Airlines' lease at San Francisco International Airport.
Greg Cotto of the Treasurer and Tax Collector's office said the $80,000 grant will fund a full-time outreach coordinator to expand community outreach for the Kindergarten to College program, which now operates in every San Francisco elementary school and has seen families save more than $180,000 into accounts. The position is 100 percent grant-funded for one year; private funders indicated potential ongoing support if the position proves successful. The committee agreed to delete duplicated language in the item text and forwarded the amended item with recommendation.
Kathy Widener of SFO said the airport seeks approval to add 439 square feet of administrative office space to China Airlines' existing lease in the international terminal, increasing the airline's annual rent to roughly $612,388. The budget analyst recommended approval and the committee forwarded the item with recommendation; no public comment was offered on these items.
Both measures will appear on the full Board of Supervisors agenda.
