The Department of Public Health asked the committee to approve two retroactive five‑year lease extensions for space used by behavioral health and community services programs.
John Updike, Director of Real Estate, presented the 1380 Howard Street extension (79,950 square feet) and said the negotiated initial monthly base rate would be $118,259.38 for six months and then $131,584.38 per month for the remainder of the extended term. He said the negotiated rate, when combined with operating costs and pass‑throughs, yields a total cost per square foot below many comparables presented.
Updike also described the 760 Harrison Street extension for the south‑of‑Market mental health clinic (13,000 square feet) with a base rent that is similar to the current monthly rent; the budget analyst provided first‑year cost tables and recommended approval. There were no public speakers. The committee moved both items forward with recommendation without objection.
Next steps: the items will be forwarded to the Board of Supervisors for final action.
