Board approves motion to direct two performance audits, including affordable-housing review

The first audit would evaluate the city’s affordable-housing development process, focusing on the Planning Department’s role, in-lieu fee provisions and how the city coordinates with the mayor’s housing office and redevelopment entities. Campbell said the audit would consider regional sustainable-communities targets and how San Francisco is positioned to meet projected housing needs.
The Board moved Item 3 forward by motion (Supervisor Farrell) and took it without objection, effectively directing the office to begin the two performance audits. Members asked for clarification on definitions—whether "workforce housing" would be included—and Campbell said the scope could be adjusted through consultation with the Board.
Campbell said the office will return with a calendar update as needed and noted the work plan remains flexible to accommodate changing board priorities.
