The Rules Committee voted Nov. 27 to forward a surveillance technology policy under Administrative Code 19B for the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco to the full Board with a positive recommendation.
Paul Peterson, representing the Fine Arts Museums (de Young and Legion of Honor), told the committee the policy delineates authorized and restricted camera uses, camera-management and video-monitoring systems, and requirements for operations and review in the event of art damage. He said the policy supports the museum mission of public access and protection of collections.
COIT and PSAB reviews were completed and no public comment was offered during the committee hearing. The committee approved forwarding the item to the full Board by unanimous voice vote.
