Subcommittee approves $1.5M increase to Jacobs Engineering construction management contract for Water System Improvement Program

The Budget and Finance Subcommittee voted to forward a resolution authorizing the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission to amend contract CS914 with Jacobs Engineering Group, increasing the agreement by $1,500,000 to a total of $26,500,000 for construction management services under the Water System Improvement Program (WSIP).
Julie Labonte (SFPUC) told the committee the additional funding is needed to address archaeological and paleontological discoveries encountered along the new critical pipeline alignment; at one site human remains were found and the PUC has elected to tunnel under the impacted areas. Labonte said because project-related work will be completed shortly, the agreement term will not be extended; the amendment is limited to additional scope and funds.
The budget analyst outlined the allocation of the requested $1.5 million and recommended approval. No public opposition was recorded and the committee moved the item forward with recommendation.
