SAN FRANCISCO — The Land Use and Transportation Committee continued two proposed ordinances Sept. 28 to allow staff and stakeholders time to draft and review substantive amendments.
Clerk Erica Major read items 1 and 2 together: an ordinance to amend the administrative code establishing a Social Housing Program Fund for acquisition, creation and operation of affordable social housing, and an ordinance to establish a COVID‑19 rent resolution relief fund. Supervisor Dean Preston said he and City Attorney staff were preparing amendments and asked the committee to continue both items for one week so stakeholders would have an opportunity to work with the City Attorney’s office.
Public commenters weighed in. An unidentified caller suggested changing the program name from 'social' to 'public,' saying, "Public sounds better." Anastasia Yovanopoulos, a tenant in District 8, thanked the supervisors for allowing stakeholders to review forthcoming amendments and welcomed the continuance.
Chair Aaron Peskin moved to continue both items for one week; the clerk recorded roll-call votes of Preston — aye; Safaei — aye; Peskin — aye. The motion passed with three ayes. The items are expected to return to the committee for further consideration.
