Committee continues office-cleaning and North Beach restaurant items to Sept. 14
Summary
The committee continued two additional COVID-related items: a health-code amendment on cleaning standards for large offices and a planning-code amendment to let certain North Beach limited restaurants apply for liquor licenses; both items were continued to Sept. 14 after procedural discussion.
After completing discussion and action on the SRO ordinance, the Land Use and Transportation Committee heard two additional items and continued both to Sept. 14, 2020.
Item 2, introduced by the clerk, would amend the health code to establish cleaning and disease-prevention standards for large commercial office buildings to help contain COVID-19. Chair Aaron Peskin moved to continue the item to Sept. 14; no public callers were in the queue and the roll call recorded aye votes from Supervisors Dean Preston, Asha Safaee and Aaron Peskin.
Item 3 proposed an amendment to the planning code to allow certain limited restaurants in the North Beach neighborhood commercial district to convert and apply for liquor licenses and included several eligibility and timing changes the planning commission recommended. Aaron Starr, the planning department board liaison, summarized the commission’s recommended modifications. Chair Peskin initially moved to send the item to the full board with proposed amendments but operations advised the board that the amendments were substantive and required a continuance. Peskin rescinded the earlier motion and the committee voted (Preston, Safaee, Peskin: aye) to continue Item 3 to Sept. 14 as well. The committee then adjourned.
Both items will return to the committee on Sept. 14 for further consideration.
