Committee sends North Beach restaurant liquor‑license conversions to full Board

The committee advanced an ordinance on Sept. 14 that would amend the planning code to allow certain limited restaurants in the North Beach Special Use District to convert to restaurants eligible for liquor licenses. The item had been previously heard and amended on Aug. 31; staff and the chair noted those amendments were substantive and the item was continued to the current meeting for further action.
There were no new public commenters on the item during this hearing. Chair Aaron Peskin moved to send the amended item to the full Board as a committee report for hearing on Sept. 15; Supervisors Preston and Safaei voted "Aye," as did Chair Peskin, giving the motion unanimous support among the three members present.
The ordinance affirms the appropriate findings for the North Beach Special Use District. The Planning Department's prior record and the committee's amendments will travel with the item to the Board for final consideration.
