Budget and Finance Subcommittee recesses after notice not published; meeting rescheduled to May 11

Carmen Chu, chair of the Budget and Finance Subcommittee, recessed the committee’s 10 a.m. meeting after announcing that the San Francisco Chronicle had not published the required public notice for the session. "Due to the failure of the San Francisco Chronicle to publish the notice for today's 10AM meeting of the budget and finance subcommittee, we cannot proceed with this morning's meeting," Chu said.

Chu said all items on the morning agenda would be recessed until Friday, May 11, 2012, at 3:30 p.m., to be held in the Legislative Chambers, Room 250, and that the committee would consider forwarding those items as committee reports to the May 15 full board meeting. The chair asked if there were any other announcements and then proposed recessing the meeting until Friday at 3:30 p.m.; the motion carried "without objection," concluding the brief session.

The announcement identified a failure of external public notice publication as the reason for the recess; no further discussion, debate, or formal roll-call vote on agenda items occurred during the proceeding. Supervisor Avalos was noted as present, and Victor Young served as the clerk for the session.
