Committee sends Vallejo Street vacation and Teatro Zinsani hotel project to full board; hearing set for Feb. 11

The Land Use Committee advanced legislation to facilitate the Teatro Zinsani Hotel, Theater and Public Park development by ordering the vacation of portions of Vallejo and Davis streets near Broadway and the Embarcadero.
Ricky Tijani, a Port development project manager, described the assembled site and said the vacation would allow the developer to assemble contiguous parcels on Seawall Lots 323 and 324 and proceed with a hotel, dinner‑theater and public park consistent with the Port Waterfront Land Use Plan. "The proposed street vacation will facilitate this development at the scale contemplated by the Port Waterfront line use plan," Tijani said, and listed public benefits the developer and Port staff have proposed.
Committee members had no substantive questions, and on advice of counsel the chair said Item 6 — the ordinance ordering the vacation — must be sent to the full board without recommendation because of the impending public hearing. The committee sent Item 5 (the resolution declaring intent and setting a hearing date) as a committee report with recommendation and Item 6 to the full board without recommendation. The hearing for Item 6 was scheduled for Feb. 11 at 3 p.m.
The committee adjourned after routing both items to the board for further action.
