SFPUC seeks Board sign-off on two solar interconnection agreements for Chinatown health center and Muni facility

The committee advanced a resolution authorizing the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission general manager to enter two long-term interconnection agreements with Pacific Gas & Electric for renewable-generating facilities: a 25-kilowatt solar installation at the Chinatown Public Health Center and a 107-kilowatt system at the Muni Woods Motor Coach facility.
Laurie Mitchell, Renewable Energy Generation Manager at SFPUC, said the projects were designed and constructed under a prior $1.4 million contract with VAS Electric and are in the final construction phase. "The Chinatown project is 25 kilowatts and the Muni project is a 107 kilowatts," Mitchell said. She noted the agreements are based on a CPUC-approved form contract and require Board authorization because they are likely to exceed 10 years and thus constrain the City's ability to change terms.
There was no public comment, and the committee moved to forward the item with recommendation without objection.
Next steps: the resolution will be forwarded to the Board of Supervisors for final approval of the interconnection agreements.
