Committee sends plumbing-code clarification to full board

Chair Aaron Peskin opened the meeting and the committee took up an ordinance to amend the plumbing code to restate requirements for replacement and minimum size of building traps. Erica Major, the committee clerk, read the item and Steve Panelli, identified in the meeting as chief plumbing inspector from the Department of Building Inspection, said the change is primarily clerical: the requirement has always been in the code and the amendment puts that language back where it belongs.

Panelli told the committee the provisions in question relate to existing code sections governing building traps and vent sizing and that the section identified in the ordinance (1001.5 and related text) already contains the applicable requirements. No members of the public testified. Supervisor Asha Safaee moved to send the ordinance to the full Board of Supervisors with a positive recommendation; the motion was taken without objection.

Because the committee recorded no amendments or objections and received no public testimony on the item, it will proceed to the full board for consideration on the regular schedule.
