Amy Brown, the city's director of property, said the acquisition follows prior PUC action and was requested to prevent residential development with septic systems that could leach into the watershed. Brown said the purchase price is supported by an independent appraisal prepared at her direction as of Aug. 30, 2006, and equates to about $0.22 per square foot.
No public comment was offered at the committee hearing on the purchase. The committee forwarded the resolution with recommendation to the full Board without objection.
The resolution includes findings that the conveyance is exempt from environmental review and is consistent with the city's general plan and Planning Code Section 101.1. The full Board will consider the matter at a later meeting.
