The committee considered an ordinance in the Administrative Code to name the City Hall press room in memory of Barbara Ann Taylor, a long-time legislative reporter who chaired the city hall press corps for decades. Chair Aaron Peskin said the full Board had previously passed a resolution urging the formal naming and expressed condolences to Taylor’s widower, Mark Maper, and her family.
David Pilpel offered brief public comment in support of the renaming. On a roll-call motion to send the item to the full Board with a recommendation, Supervisors Chan, Mandelmann and Chair Peskin each voted aye and the motion passed without objection. The item will proceed to the full Board for final action.
Next steps: the ordinance will be placed on the full Board’s agenda for official naming consideration.
