Committee recommends Fig and Thistle receive on-sale beer-and-wine license

The Public Safety and Neighborhood Services Committee recommended Sept. 12 that Lay Brothers LLC, doing business as Fig and Thistle, be considered for a Type-42 on-sale beer-and-wine public premises liquor license at 691 Fourteenth Street.
Officer Patrick Mackey of the San Francisco Police Department’s Alcohol Liaison Unit said the PCN showed zero letters of protest and one letter of support, with the site in a low-crime plot but a high-saturation census tract. ALU recommended conditions including conspicuous signage at entrances and exits per the ABC 257 form (dated 05/31/2018). Applicants Nui Le and partner Angel Davis explained the space has long family history (grandmother's deli) and that Fig and Thistle has operated in Hayes Valley about five years and now seeks to open a second location. The committee supported the application and forwarded it with a positive recommendation.
The committee noted the applicant agreed to ALU-recommended conditions and wished the business success as it pursues the Board hearing on Sept. 18, 2018.
