Supervisor Asha Safaei said the change was a conforming amendment to correct a date and bring parity between the planning code and the public health code; on recommendation of the Office of Cannabis, the date was changed on pages 4 and 5 from Jan. 1, 2019 to Dec. 31, 2019. Members noted public commenters had raised objections to prior legislation that removed minimum buffer distances between cannabis retailers, but the committee said this item before them was a technical date change and not a substantive rehearing of the prior policy.
The committee took the motion to accept the conforming amendment and, to ensure proper notice and timing, continued the matter to the Feb. 11 meeting.
