Committee forwards ordinance to apply uniform NCT-3 zoning to 170 Valencia Street

The Land Use and Transportation Committee on Feb. 11 voted to forward to the full Board an ordinance to amend the zoning map for 170 Valencia Street and apply uniform Neighborhood Commercial Transit (NCT-3) zoning across the parcel.
Kyle Smiley, representing Supervisor Mandelmann, told the committee the four‑story Art Deco building at 170 Valencia has served community uses including a Baha'i temple and the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus, and the office sought uniform zoning so future community uses would not require conditional‑use approvals. Planning Commission staff reported the commission unanimously recommended the ordinance on Jan. 17, 2019.
Planning staff member Audrey Butkus confirmed the Planning Commission’s unanimous recommendation. With no public comment, Supervisor Asha Safaie moved to forward the ordinance to the full Board with recommendation and the committee took the motion without objection.
