The Budget and Finance Subcommittee reviewed and forwarded to the full Board an ordinance to add a 0.25 social worker (employment specialist) in the Office of the Public Defender. Jennifer Johnson of the Public Defender's Office said the position represents the remainder of a private grant previously used to hire an employment specialist who supported people with major mental illness to find competitive employment. The office indicated the hire would be funded entirely by the grant and would not affect the City’s general fund.
There was no public comment on the item and the committee agreed to send the ordinance forward with a recommendation to the Board of Supervisors.
