Teamsters report ratified contract for We Drive You; committee files hearing

At the Land Use Committee meeting on Sept. 24, Adolf Felix, business agent for Teamsters Local 853, told the committee negotiations with We Drive You and Halcon Transportation resulted in a recommended agreement ratified by 97% of voting members; he said nearly 800 drivers were covered. Supervisor Safaie praised the negotiation results and noted drivers would see wage increases (5% in year one, 4% in years two and three) for over 600 drivers as part of the settlement.
Committee members said the original intent of the hearing was to encourage parties to negotiate and to bring transparency to the contract provisions and disruption plans; with the ratification announced on the record, the committee moved to file the hearing and did so without objection.
