Committee adopts technical corrections to planning code, forwards ordinance to full Board

The Land Use Committee unanimously adopted a Planning Department–backed ordinance intended to correct drafting errors and reinstate text inadvertently removed during a recent planning‑code reorganization.
David Broski of the Planning Department summarized the corrections package as a mostly non‑substantive cleanup with a handful of material changes. He identified three substantive adjustments: an exception that would allow some ground‑floor commercial‑use exceptions in C3 and C2 zoning districts; removal of duplicative cannabis noticing requirements and deletion of a mandatory doctor requirement in some Medical Cannabis Dispensary (MCD) provisions (described as a drafting error); and a request from the Mayor’s Office of Housing and Community Development (MOHCD) to change a benchmark from “median” to “market” in section 4.15 because MOHCD said median was not an appropriate standard for that provision.
Broski said the Planning Commission had approved the ordinance with modifications on April 19. Chair Katie Chang said additional corrective amendments were read onto the record; the committee adopted the amendments as stated on behalf of the Planning Department and forwarded the ordinance to the full Board as a committee report.
Next steps: The item will appear on the Board of Supervisors agenda (per the clerk’s announcement) and will move forward for final Board action.
