Greg Cato, policy and legislative manager for the Treasurer & Tax Collector, told the committee the program aims to help San Francisco workers access wages electronically, reduce reliance on check‑cashers and payday lenders, and build a pipeline for employer‑led asset‑building strategies. He said the program will provide employer outreach to increase access to electronic pay for low‑wage workers and reduce paper checks within San Francisco.
With no public comment, the committee accepted and recommended the ordinance to the full board.
