Rules Committee appoints two to Sunshine Ordinance Task Force

The San Francisco Board of Supervisors Rules Committee on Monday voted to appoint Jaya Padmanabhan to Seat 4 and Bruce Wolf to Seat 11 of the Sunshine Ordinance Task Force, with terms noted as ending April 27, 2023.

Chair Aaron Peskin moved the appointments after the two applicants each gave short remarks. Padmanabhan, who described a decades‑long career in Bay Area ethnic and community journalism, said she was eager to "continue being a part of the team that ensures government transparency for the citizens and residents of San Francisco." Wolf, who sought reappointment, thanked the panel for the opportunity and said he valued the work of the task force.

The committee heard no public comments on the item. Clerk Victor Young called the roll; Supervisors Rafael Mandelman, Connie Chan and Chair Peskin each voted 'Aye' and the motion "passed without objection," the clerk said. No amendments, residency challenges or dissenting votes were recorded.

The Sunshine Ordinance Task Force advises the Board on open‑government rules and the city's compliance with local and state public‑records and open‑meeting laws. Padmanabhan cited the Sunshine Ordinance, the Brown Act and the California Public Records Act as foundations for her work; Wolf emphasized continuity with the existing task‑force membership.

The committee moved directly to its next agenda item after the vote. The appointments will be reflected in the committee's official file and the city’s appointment records.
